Life has looked pretty different for all of us these past few months. I know I don’t have to tell YOU this, you’ve been living it! Life itself looks different than it used to. Working from home is common, schools are starting to figure out what is best for their students; the World Race Gap Year is experiencing change as well.

Once it hit me that the Gap Year program would be affected by the ongoing change our world is in, my prayer became “Lord, Your will be done.” Of course, I hoped everything would be able to play out as planned. Knowing that these men and women who have said yes to the race have had their worlds turned upside down, it was difficult for me to think of their next step being changed as well. Being able to surrender this each day isn’t easy, but WOW — it’s a gift that our Father listens. Ultimately, this has been a wake-up call. Praying “Lord, Your will be done” isn’t a common prayer for me. I tend to pray this when I see change on the horizon or feel the weight of the unexpected. I want this to be a prayer I pray every day. Starting my day in a posture of surrender, willingness, and openness begins with choosing the Lord; more of Him and His heart. Gosh, I’m thankful to be reminded of this.

As I mentioned earlier, the Gap Year program is going to look a little different this year! From September to December, we’ll be based in Gainesville Georgia at the Adventures campus. Precautions have been put in place to keep our racers and staff safe, clean, and healthy. These few months will be filled with team building, discipleship, worship, connection, learning, growing, ministering to each other’s hearts, and so much more! We also have the opportunity to be home with family for Thanksgiving and Christmas time. The hope from there is to go out into the nations come January. My prayer continues to be “Lord, Your will be done.” I can’t WAIT to see the beauty that comes from this time in Gainesville. The fact that these men and women have still said yes in all of these changes never ceases to blow my mind. I am overjoyed to know them and live life with them day to day.

Thank you SO much for continuing to walk this life with me. It’s such a treasure to know you and be known by you — I’ll be posting new info, stories, and perspectives as they happen, but please take a moment to MEET THE SQUAD! I get to live life with E Squad over these next 9 months… here’s a link to see their pretty faces and read their amazing words!

GAP E!

Wednesday, August 19th is day one of Squad Leader Training. The trek to Gainesville is fast approaching; man oh man, I can’t wait. Would you join me in praying over our leadership team as we prepare to partner with these racers? Would you join me in praying for our racers as they embark on something wild and new with the Lord?

Thank you for being my friend. Lord, Your will be done in our hearts. Amen & amen!

  1. Bern!! How I miss your joy and tender heart before the Lord. Such a honor to watch from the sidelines as you continue to say yes to the Lord over and over. Such beauty!! Love and prayers and rejoicing that that His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

  2. “Your will be done” is a beautiful and incredibly hard prayer Bern, I love that you’re diving into it.

His will often looks very different from our will, so it is a prayer to lay down our preconceptions of how we think things should be, and let God do it His way.

My blue suede shoes are on and I am so excited to walk with you in this season!!

  3. Well Sweetie… as they say in Momma Mia, here we go again! So excited for you, proud of you, and thrilled to be journeying along side you! To God be the glory, and may HIS will be done… forever and always, Amen and Amen!!

And I’ve got my blue suede shoes on… walking/dancing expectantly in what the Lord has for this season! Love you so so so very much!
