Sparkle  /’sparkl/  verb

“to shine brightly with flashes of light.”

Each World Race team has nightly team time. There are 7 different team time activities, one for every day of the week. One of these times is called Journey Markers, which is essentially a time to dig into the word together as well as answer some discussion questions sent to us from our leadership in the states. On the  12th of this month the Lord spoke to me during our journey marker team time. One of the discussion questions asked “what steps can you take to depend on Jesus to be your true identity?”

I genuinely didn’t know what my answer would be to this one so I sorta skipped it. Just as I thought to myself “man, that’s too hard…” and went to read the next question,  the Lord refrained me from going on by speaking one word to me.

Huh? Recipe? I thought my stomach was talking instead of the Lord for a second, but then He said “ask me for your recipe.” I sat a moment more and continued to listen. “Ask Me for your recipe. Ask Me what I used to make you you.”

To answer the question of  “what steps can you take to depend on Jesus to be your true identity?” I simply wrote ‘ask Him for the recipe He used to make me me.’ While worshipping during church on the Sunday following this night, I asked the Father. I asked Him for a taste of the recipe He used when He first dreamt of creating me. He didn’t answer during worship, He used this time to dance with me. A sweet waltz that ended with a hand jive; the perfect Father-daughter dance. While the pastor of the church was sharing His message, I noticed something fun a few rows ahead of me: a little girl and her father. The girl looked about 5 and was sitting on her father’s lap. She was poking his face, tickling him; she was totally invested in him and he with her. It was such a sweet moment. While the sermon was happening, I was taking notes. All of a sudden instead of writing what I was hearing from the pastor, the Father took my hand and wrote “I made you with sparkle. The trust you see between that little girl and her father, that is the relationship I want with you. Full of trust, a childlike joy, and sparkle.”

My mind was pretty stinkin blown.

I knew the Father made us with some crazy characteristics, but sparkle? That’s pretty darn sensational if you ask me.

I’m continuing to ask Him what it is He’s made me with, I’ll keep you all updated. From what I’m understanding though, this is a pretty long recipe… and boy I’m hyped to hear it!!

I’m praying hard for the Lord to continue to work in tangible ways in my life as well as yours; thank you for pouring out your love so willingly. Everyone knows I love to hug so go out and hug someone today in honor of me, dang it. I love you all SO STINKIN MUCH!

This song has been on repeat for me lately. (thanks to Tim and Karen, our squad parents, for showing it to us!) I’d greatly encourage you to give it a listen, and then another, and by then you’ll probably be hooked.

I agree, I think I would have wanted to skip over that question as well. But now that you have brought it to light, I’m going to dig in too… the question and ‘my’ recipe, thank you for sharing this! It does not surprise me that “SPARKLE” is part of your recipe… you ‘sparkle up’ anywhere you are and anyone you’re with! Funny story… remember the time you were in a craft class as a child. Everyone was coloring and glittering a picture with flowers, bumble bees and the sky. All the others were putting glitter in the center of their flowers or on their bees’ wings. Not you… no, you glittered your entire sky!! LOTS of sparkle!! Love how you see things, Sweetie! And love how you seek after your Heavenly Father’s heart! So excited to hear more of what HE has to say to and through you!! Missing your hugs, and will hug for you today! Please ask one of the girls to hug you from me. And way to go on having the perfect dance partner… HE’s the bestest over all the restest!!! Love you so so very much!!!!!!! xoxoxox
